This morning we had an early start and we set off for the parliament for our Euroscola day at 8am. We were looking so smart and Rory was even wearing a kilt! When we arrived, we were welcomed by the ‘moniteurs’ and left our teachers behind for our student breakfast.
This morning after our delicious continental breakfast, we headed to lycée André Marois to meet with their wonderful students and teachers. We started the morning by showing them a traditional Scottish ceilidh dance and then the pupils joined in too. The school had some lovely cakes and drinks for us and we took some shortbread for them to try too.
This morning we felt refreshed after a great night’s sleep in a comfortable bed. We had a delicious continental breakfast and then met to prepare for the day ahead. We all thought of some questions to ask our Scottish MEPs and prepared our questions in French and Spanish for the street survey.
Then we headed out in the cold to the streets of Strasbourg to ask people what they thought about Scotland and Europe. We got some really interesting answers – some people think that London is a city in Scotland and some even believed that Scotland is located in the Mediterranean! It was really interesting and we even found native Spanish speaking visitors to Strasbourg!
We had a memorable trip to Strasbourg on the coach. Starting out at 5pm yesterday, we arrived in Strasbourg at 5pm tonight after an exhausting 24 hour journey! There was lots of sleeping on the bus (in very interesting positions), plenty of Burger King and some funny French films along the way. Of course, we took some photographic evidence!
When we finally arrived, everyone was looking forward to a hot shower and our rooms and the hostel are brillant. Our first meal was also a huge success with chicken, omelettes, quiche and calamari on offer. Continue reading …
