Singing, hiking and celebrating

In this morning’s lesson we were talking all about music. We learned about instruments, types of music, idioms and rhyming as well as listening to songs from France, Spain and Germany. We then set about writing our own lyrics in the foreign language to a well-known chart song. The finished songs were very catchy!

After lunch, we recorded the music videos to go along with our films. The Spanish group have a brilliant Bruno Mars cover while the French group went for a Queen classic – We Will Rock You.

Then we went on our forest hike which was led by Thomas. It was a beautiful walk (despite the weather) and we enjoyed exploring the surroundings of Helensburgh.

We had some traditional Scottish haggis, neeps and tatties for dinner tonight. Most people were very surprised by how tasty it was!

Then it was celebration time! We had our Hawaiian party with limbo, giant inflatable races and evening a few ceilidh dances. We also had a photo booth with some costumes and I am sure everyone will agree the campers look amazing!

To end the evening, we watched all the media we created this week and saw all the photos. They were hilarious and were great to see to end the first week. We also presented certificates to those who are leaving tomorrow and our 5-year anniversary camp t-shirts.

We’ll be so sad to say goodbye to those who are leaving tomorrow but we are so excited to meet the others who will be joining us on Sunday. It has been a busy, fun-filled, language learning week!
